About this list

The entries here are the ones whose own pages say in so many words that guests, or simply anyone, may come along. In Nürnberg SC Noris-Tarrasch opens its Friday meeting in the Loni-Übler-Haus to all chess enthusiasts, SpVgg Zabo Eintracht and the Post SV in the Sportpark Ebensee invite visitors on Wednesdays, and the SIGENA neighbourhood centre in St. Johannis holds a beginners’ afternoon on the first Wednesday of the month.

Further out, the Schachklub Neumarkt writes that guests are always welcome, the joint group of Langenzenn and Wilhermsdorf plays in Wilhermsdorf all year, and the clubs of Lauf, Stein and Eckental keep their doors open too. The BSGW in Erlangen-Eltersdorf puts out boards and clocks for blitz, rapid or analysis, and the morning Schachtreff in Veitsbronn and the afternoon meeting in Baiersdorf ask for nothing but a wish to play. On every other evening it is worth writing to the club first.
