Opens, rapid days and city blitz 5

Only tournaments that outside players can enter, and that come back edition after edition, have an entry of their own; a club championship or a one-off event stays on its club’s page. The Erlanger BSGW-Open is a five-round rated open in spring for players below a set rating, played in the sports hall of SC Eltersdorf. The Sparkassen-Open of the Schachclub Forchheim fills the Hirtenbachhalle in Heroldsbach in early autumn, in three rating groups.

The Nürnberger Stadtblitzmeisterschaft runs as a monthly blitz evening through the year in the rooms of the Nuremberg clubs that host it. For young players there are Rapid Neumarkt, a youth rapid tournament that has also decided a Bavarian under-25 title, and the NeST, a numbered series of children’s tournaments in Neunkirchen am Brand and Forchheim.
